Welcome to Year 5!
The class teacher is Miss Sagoo.
Here is what the children say about Year 5:
PE days will take place every Monday and Thursday. Children are expected to get changed in school as PE kits will be kept in school and will be sent home every half term to be washed. Jewellery needs to be removed (including studs). Girls are expected to wear a one-piece swimming costume and a cap and boys are expected to wear swimming shorts. Goggles and T-Shirts can be worn over the top.

Did you know Reading for Pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child's future success, more than their family circumstances, parent's educational background and their income?
At Maryvale, we want our children to develop a lifelong habit of Reading for Pleasure and benefit from the improved life chances this brings them, which is why reading is our Golden Thread.
To support families at home develop a Love for Reading, we have put together an area on our website full of stories to access at home, including stories read by our wonderful staff!
Children are expected to read both their Home Reading book and their Reading for Pleasure book multiple times a week. Their understanding should be recorded in their Reading Journals and parents/guardians should sign these weekly. These will be changed weekly.
Spellings will be sent home every Friday, to be tested on the following Friday.
Additionally, your child can work through MyMaths Booster Packs at home.
