Intent 

Children at Maryvale will have an understanding of Relationships and Health Education that are rooted in the teaching that we are made in the image and likeness of God.  In addition to using TenTen's 'Life to the Full' programme, we also ensure that children are equipped to live in the wider world, with a focus on Economic wellbeing.  We are proud to have a strong Mental Health and Wellbeing culture that is threaded through all aspects of our curriculum.  

Right to Withdraw

There is no right of parental withdrawal from Relationships Education or Health Education elements.  Parents do have the right to withdraw from some or all of the sex education, outside of the mandatory requirements i.e. that stated within the science national curriculum.  When lessons with sensitive content are taught we will inform parents beforehand and give them the opportunity to view the lesson content and discuss any questions or concerns with the class teacher.

SEND

All lessons are fully inclusive and where more sensitive issues are being covered, children will be pre and post- tutored.  When covering sensitive issues, parents are always informed and encouraged to view content from lessons.

Safegaurding

If any safegaurding disclosures are made during discussions, all staff are aware of their duty to report concerns to the DSL.
