Maryvale

Catholic Primary School

  • With our mother Mary,
  • we gather together joyfully,
  • to love, live, learn and pray,
  • with respect for all God’s family,
  • as Jesus teaches us.

During Art week the children have looked at learning and developing techniques and skills, discovered and explored artists both past and present and expressed themselves by using types of arts.

For example, Year 1 have learnt all about Vincent Van Gough and have listened to the music 'Vincent' by Don McLean. Whilst doing this the children took part in a write dance session to respond to the music.

In Year 4 they have been looking at 'Pop Art' by numerous artists; Andy Warhol and Elaine Sturtevant. There has been a focus on the exploration of primary and secondary colours and trying to recreate these colourful and extraodinary pieces of work.
