Catholic Primary School

  • With our mother Mary,
  • we gather together joyfully,
  • to love, live, learn and pray,
  • with respect for all God’s family,
  • as Jesus teaches us.

Welcome to our EYFS homepage.                                            This is where the most exciting journey begins!

LATEST NEWS!

Our children listened to the CBSO perform one of their Relaxed Concerts on Friday 19th January 2024.

The concert featured a 10-piece mini-orchestra of CBSO musicians and a presenter, who took the audience through an exciting musical narrative combining storytelling, music, and audience participation. The theme this year was Alice in Wonderland. The live streaming link was open to any school interested in experiencing a live music performance and we most certainly were! A big thank you to the CBSO!

Early Years Foundation Stage 2023 - 2024

Welcome to our EYFS homepage. This is where the most exciting journey begins!

At Maryvale, we want children to be happy, confident and to develop a real thirst for learning. We provide them with a safe and stimulating environment in which to learn and explore and aim to foster children’s individual wants, needs and interests in order to enable them to get the most out of their experiences.

Children have many opportunities to facilitate their own learning through carefully resourced provision areas and adults support children through high quality interactions that challenge thinking and extend learning.

Through play-based learning and topics, we endeavour to provide each child with a range of opportunities which stimulate their creativity and support their development based on their likes and interests.

We value the importance of the outdoor environment, including the school field, in order to enable children to develop their thinking, problem solving and collaborative working skills.

World Book Day - we had a fantastic time looking at a range of books, listening to stories and creating our own. We also made illustrations of our favourite stories.

Fairtrade Fortnight - we discussed making small switches to Fairtrade products to support producers and farmers in protecting the future.

Shrove Tuesday - creating and tasting pancakes.

Art Week - We explored 3D shapes using a variety of materials, e.g. playdough and clay. Lots of fantastic gross and fine motor skills being developed.

NSPCC Number Day, we had lots of fun exploring numbers and raising money for a fantastic cause.

Being creative with Mr Diggle, learning lots of new songs. "He's got the whole world in His hands."

Chinese New Year activities!

We made Gingerbread Men during our Christmas festivities!!!

EYFS trip to Ash End House Farm. We loved visiting the animals and being Farmers for the day!

During Maths, we have been exploring measuring. We had a go at making our very own playdough using White Rose Maths.

Remembrance Day - we made poppies in lots of different ways to symbolise and reverence and respect for the soldiers who sacrificed so much for us.

Art Week! smiley

A busy week of learning, sensory play, subitising and shape work.

We are constantly trying to develop our fine and gross motor skills and our turn-taking.

We have been learning about Harvest Festival and understanding and thanking God for all the good things He gives us.

Harvest Festival has taught us the value of sharing and giving to those who are not so fortunate. We collected food to donate to our local food bank.

Our first day at school, we had so much fun exploring the environments.

Here is a snap shot tour of our learning environments.
